Museum's first hall integrates the visitor in its spirit, starting from the history of the building and its gradual transformation from a dormitory of salt workers into a straw warehouse for the salt transport wagons' horses and finally into a modern museum.<\/span><\/p>\n

The secretariat and the reception office operate in the same room, where the visitor can request any information and printed material about the Salt Pans, the Museum and Messolonghi in general.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

In this room the visitor can be informed about salt's sources of origin, to see salts from around the world in different granulometries and colouration, to know the connection of salt with stockraising and health as well as its 14,000 known and unknown uses.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Continuing the tour at the Museum, the visitor gets information about the impact of salt on both the global and local economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The unknown History of Messolonghi's Salines unfolds before his eyes through a plethora of documents, photos and video projections while in a special place he is informed about the hundreds of birds that are endemic to the wider area of the salt pans and the lagoon of Kleisova.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

The fourth room is dedicated on how salt has affected Literature, Art, Religion, Tourism and Culture in general.<\/span><\/p>\n

Poets praise salt, painters, engravers and sculptors create works with it and for this reason, cities and regions of the world \"hide\" salt in their name, religions of the whole world refer to it and tourism \"takes advantage\" of its existence.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Here is presented the only known in Greece, collection of salt shakers dating from 1800 to present.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the showcases of the Museum you will see 1500 salt shakers, handmade and industrial.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Glass, metal, plastic, wood, silver, porcelain, ceramic and various special <\/span>materials<\/span>, from all over the world, are presented in an original and impressive way.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

In the last hall the visitor has the opportunity to buy salt from Messolonghi, the well-known and renowned \"afrina\", collectible and modern innovative salt shakers, salts from all over the world, artcrafts from salt and souvenirs of the salines and Messolonghi.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
